MWS Ventures, Inc. is a California-based startup founded in 2025, driven by a passion for tree care, sustainability, and wildfire prevention. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Forestry and Wood Industries from West Virginia University, and I bring over 30 years of experience in manufacturing to the table.
In 2013, seeking a meaningful career change, I earned my ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) Certification and began offering arboriculture consulting services to the public in Virginia. My interest in wildfire prevention was sparked in 2019 after learning about the devastating Camp Fire that destroyed Paradise, CA. Motivated to make a difference, I joined a company tasked with assessing vegetation along power lines for Southern California Edison.
In 2020, I obtained my Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ), and successfully requalified in 2025. That same year, I became a Team Risk Assessment Leader, overseeing field operations and ensuring high standards in vegetation risk analysis.
In 2021, I was invited to support a startup program focused on training new inspectors in utility line vegetation assessment—a role that allowed me to share my expertise and help build the next generation of arboriculture professionals.
My passion lies in helping people know how to manage their trees so they can get the most benefit from them. The benefits of trees are numerous and well documented.
However they are living organisms and even though they are very adaptable often times they are out of their natural environment. We need to be good stewards and give them every chance for success. We shouldn't just plant them and forget them. We need the right tree in the right place.
